Great write up! I have a LCR (.357 model) and I love it. I would echo the writer's comment on needing to practice with it. Shooting .38+P or .357 definitely takes some work-up before you would be proficient with it in a self-defense scenario.
I have both the LCR 38 & the 357 & really like them both. I tend to carry the same load in both, as well (Gold Dot short barrel 38) & like shooting the 357 a little better. Just a little more comfortable w/ the extra weight. Btw, the reason that the polymer frame helps with recoil is because it flexes a little under recoil.
